Today at the annual Monterey Car Week, Kia America showcased its most powerful electric performance crossover; the 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line. Kia EV6 GT raises the bar for the performance crossover segment with shocking specs such as 576 hp of power, 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, 800V fast charging capabilities, and 0 to 80% recharge in under 18 minutes. It will first go on sale in the Q4 of 2022 and the pricing will be announced closer to the launch.
As per Kia, the EV6 GT out accelerated a Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD in an AMCI-certified drag race. EV6 GT’s thrilling performance is backed by a dual motor setup with an e-AWD powertrain that splits the power to all four wheels. It packs a 77.4-kWh battery pack that serves a front-mounted 160kW motor, combined with a rear-mounted 270kW motor. Having a combined power output of 430 kW (576 hp) and 546 lb.-ft. of torque, the EV6 GT zooms from zero to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 161 mph.
The EV6 GT comes with the world-first multi-charging system supporting 400v and 800v DC charging that works on DC chargers with speeds ranging from 50kW to 350kW. With the help of 800v fast charging support, 80 percent of battery capacity can be replenished in less than 18 minutes at 350-kW chargers. EV6 GT is literally a power source on wheels; with its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, it can supply 1,900 watts of power to electrical appliances, devices, tools, and recreational equipment.
The 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line gets exclusive performance upgrades such as dedicated sport suspension, Dynamic damping control, electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD), larger disc brakes, and Z-rated Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. There is also an option to choose from two active sound designs unique to the GT variant.
Three new drive modes have been introduced in the GT variant: GT Drive Mode, My Drive Mode, and Drift Mode. GT Drive Mode optimizes the system’s performance which defines the performance crossover. My Drive Mode allows for custom settings to suit individual driving preferences and the Drift Mode shifts the power to the rear wheels to unlock increased capacity.
To distinguish the GT variant from the rest of the lineup, front and rear fasciae have been redesigned; 21” alloy wheels with neon-accented brake calipers are provided, and a rear aero spoiler and a diffuser have been added. On the inside, front seats are replaced with vegan suede trimmed sports bucket seats with GT inscribed on them, ambient lighting is given across the door panels, center console, and dashboard, and some neon touches here & there.
