2023 Polestar 3: The Performance SUV for the Electric Age to be Launched on October 12

The premium electric car brand from Sweden, Polestar, has announced the world premiere of its first electric performance SUV, the Polestar 3. And as promised, it will be launched online on October 12 via a live stream from the launch event in Copenhagen, Denmark. Along with the launch announcement, a photo of the sporty rear end of the polestar 3 has been teased ahead of the launch and a few more exciting details have also been revealed.

The company tags Polestar 3 as ‘the SUV for the electric age’ and it completely justifies the tagline. Polestar 3 is powerful it can deliver up to 517 hp and 671 lb.-ft. of torque, it is track capable it has a dual-clutch system with torque vectoring, it is hi-tech it has a centralized core processor from NVIDIA, it is the safest it has the most advanced safety systems from Volvo, Zenseact, Luminar, and Smart Eye, it has excellent driving dynamics it has adaptive dual-chamber air suspension and active dampers.

The Polestar’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath further added:

“It’s this instant ability to transform from a comfortable cruiser to a sharp, agile performance car in less than the blink of an eye that makes Polestar 3 special as an electric performance SUV. It also benefits from a low center of gravity and wide track for ultimate stability, and an exciting feeling behind the wheel.”    

The Launch edition Polestar 3 will share its platform with Volvo’s EX90 and will ride the new all-electric technology base developed by Volvo Cars—the SPA2 platform. The performance SUV will have a rear-biased dual-motor setup that will also feature a dual-clutch system on the rear electric motor to provide torque vectoring for the track application. Adaptive dual-chamber air suspension and active dampers will be standard across the Polestar 3 and the SUV will be able to switch between comfort and firm suspension dynamics in just two milliseconds according to the road surface and conditions.

The Polestar 3 will come with an optional Performance Pack, which is capable of delivering up to 517 hp and 671 lb.-ft. of torque, while the standard version can generate up to 483 hp. The Polestar Engineering team has also optimized the chassis tuning for the performance pack with the help of active dampers and adaptive air suspension. Gold accents on the valve caps and seat belts, and a laser-etched interior light strip in the optional performance pack,  add signature Polestar touches to the SUV.

As expected, official prices for the Polestar 3 will be declared during the launch event on October 12 and the order books will also open shortly after the debut. Polestar 3 production is planned to start early next year at the Volvo Car’s plant in South Carolina, it will be the brand’s first model to be manufactured in North America.
