Earlier this year at the CES 2023, Dutch Startup Lightyear showcased its next mass-market solar electric car; the lightyear 2. Lightyear also announced its second model will be priced under $40,000 and claimed that the solar EV will have more than 500 miles of range. Since then the Lightyear 2 has been creating a buzz in the EV universe and the same is reflected in the pre-orders of the solar electric car.

Lightyear and Arval Pre-Order Agreement for Lightyear 2
The Dutch company has reported that the pre-orders for Lightyear 2 Solar EV have now exceeded 20,000 units courtesy of the major order agreement signed with Arval, a leading multi-brand renting company in Europe. Arval has reserved 10,000 units of the Lightyear 2 which corresponds to a potential sales revenue of 400 million dollars (@ $40,000 per vehicle).

Arval is a key player in sustainable mobility solutions and with this contract, Arval aims to be a new go-to mobility partner for corporate clients and individuals to experience solar-electric mobility. Arval is also a preferred leasing partner for Aiways and MG Motor in Germany.
Solar EV Startup Lightyear recently opened the waiting list for pre-orders of the lightyear 2 model and has already received more than 21,000 pre-orders in total from B2B partners. It has generated potential gross sales revenue in excess of 840 million dollars for the startup.

Chairman and CEO of Arval, Alain van Groenendael said,
“Lightyear’s technology is proven, affordable, and environmentally friendly, making Lightyear 2 a great addition to our fleet. Our aim is to lease 700,000 electrified vehicles as part of our global fleet by 2025, and we look forward to welcoming 10,000 Lightyear 2 EVs, that help us to reach our goal and more importantly, further support our customers with an optimal solution that answers their energy transition needs and the infrastructure challenge in Europe.”
Co-Founder and CEO of Lightyear, Lex Hoefsloot said,
