2023 Lucid Air Pure Buyer’s Guide: Price, Specs, Interior

At a five-figure price point, Lucid Air Pure is the most affordable model in the air lineup but is it the most value-for-money offering in this segment? Impressive range, decent power figures, luxurious interiors, advanced driver-assist features, and ultra-fast charging capabilities but can the unavailability of federal tax credit make you rethink?

Lucid Air Pure Price and Availability

The entry-level Lucid Air Pure is priced at $87,400 for the single motor, rear-wheel drive variant, however, it is not available for order as of now. Single Motor Air Pure is expected to be launched sometime in 2023 so currently Air Pure starts from $92,900 that comes with an all-wheel-drive setup. 

The Lucid Air Pure significantly undercuts its nearest rival the $106,440 Tesla Model S Dual-Motor and the $108,450 Mercedes EQS450 4Matic sedan in terms of price. Lucid Motors is offering its own $7500 EV Credit on select models till March 31, 2023, but unfortunately the lower-priced Air Pure isn’t eligible for this promotion.

Air Pure sedan entered production in December at the company’s factory in Casa Grande, Arizona and the Deliveries are underway. Lucid’s delivery numbers are steadily growing as they are working out kinks in the production line. One can expect a waiting period of about 2-3 months from VIN assignment to delivery or 4-5 months from confirmation to delivery in some cases. However, these estimates also assume a lot of growth in the Lucid production line.

Lucid has started contacting the reservation holders of the Single Motor Air Pure to ask them about their preferred configuration. This is also an indication that the $87,400 Air Pure might have entered production which is still being shown as available later on the website.

Lucid Air Pure Range and Battery Capacity

The all-wheel-drive Lucid Air Pure can travel 410 miles on a single charge with its standard 19-inch aero wheels and all-season tires. The rear-wheel-drive pure will be EPA certified later closer to the delivery date. But recently Lucid sent an email to the reservation holders that said the projected range of the RWD variant will be 406 miles. It is interesting to note that the omission of one motor does not improve the range by much. 

Lucid air pure packs a slightly smaller 18-module version of the company’s 22-module long-range battery pack present in other Lucid Air variants. The 18-module battery pack provides a capacity of 88.0-kWh which is the least in the lucid’s air model line.  

The compact battery pack in the Air Pure is ultra-efficient, it gives an impressive mileage of 4.62 miles per kilowatt hour. A lighter battery pack and an all-aluminum roof help minimize the weight and the aerodynamic design drops the coefficient of drag that aids in the efficiency of the air pure. 

Lucid’s in-house designed Wunderbox technology based on 900-volt architecture is standard on the Air Pure. It can support level 3 DC fast charging of up to 350 kW that can replenish 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes. The Air Pure takes about 13 hours to be fully recharged using a 240-volt outlet or a level 2 public charger.

Lucid Air Pure Powertrain and Performance

The Lucid Air Pure is being offered in two configurations; single-motor and dual-motor powertrain each with its own horsepower. The dual-motor powertrain on the Air Pure generates 480 horsepower, and that’s enough to sprint the sleek sedan from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Performance numbers for the single-motor Air Pure have not yet been officially announced by the company. 

However Lucid in its email to the prospective buyers has revealed the expected specifications of the single-motor Air Pure. It can deliver 430 hp of power and 406 lb-ft of torque and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. So the RWD model makes 50 hp less in comparison but still the zero to 60 time is impressive.

Lucid’s DreamDrive suite of advanced driver-assist features also comes standard in the Air Pure and can be upgraded to DreamDrive Pro. DreamDrive system has 32 sensors in total which also includes a high-resolution LIDAR. It offers lane departure protection, automatic emergency braking, Drowsy Driver Alert, automatic park-in and out, and more.

The optional DreamDrive Pro expands the suite of features and adds semi-autonomous driving. Surround View Monitoring, Blind Spot Display, and Highway Assist features are added with DreamDrive Pro.

Lucid Air Pure Interior

The Interior of the Lucid Air Pure is one of its highlighting features, it is spacious, it is comfortable and it is luxurious very lucid-like. High-Quality and Sustainable Mojave PurLuxe vegan leather has been used in the cabin with fine craftsmanship and deep attention to detail.

Air Pure has heated front seats that are 12-way adjustable with memory and the smart facial recognition feature automatically adjusts mirrors and seat presets to your liking. 

The smaller battery pack allows a 3.1” deeper footwell and an expansive rear floor that gives the Pure class-leading rear-seat legroom. Those extra inches of footwell reduce the seat cushion rake angle which creates a more natural and even more relaxing seating position — perfect for longer rides. 

Lucid Air Pure does not get the panoramic Glass Canopy familiar from other Lucid Air variants instead it comes with an all-metal roof. 

EV Officials’ Verdict

Lucid Air Pure is a well-balanced luxury electric sedan, it rewards you with the privileges for the premium that you have to pay. In our opinion, it is a worthy competitor to Tesla’s Model S and the Mercedes EQS sedan. 

This sleek and powerful sedan comes with a capable and fuel-efficient powertrain, an excellent driving range, superfast charging, elegant interiors, and innovative features. It is a compelling alternative for those who prefer a premium experience.
